Who We Are
Veterans. Citizens. Families.
We are the Veterans of Foreign Wars—or VFW for short. Originally founded in 1899 as the
American Veterans of Foreign Service, the VFW continues to be a voice for returning and
currently deployed service members and their families. The 2.4 million members of the
VFW and its Auxiliaries are located in 8,500 VFW posts around the world. We welcome
everyone who meets VFW
eligibility requirements, regardless of age, race, religion, or gender.
What We Do
In Our Communities
The VFW is a grass-roots organization. Unlike other groups, virtually all of our
membership is managed at the state or post levels. The organization’s foundation
is the VFW post. Though there are many proud VFW halls around this country, many
VFW posts do not own property. A post is its membership. A post’s character is
determined by that membership. Some are known for the amount of time members
volunteer at local VA centers and in their towns; others are known for their social
events amongst members; others still have membership scattered around the world but
stay in touch through the Internet.
Meetings
If you have any questions about goings on at the post,
please come to a meeting to get the details. Help by getting involved.
Post meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 8:00 pm.
Auxiliary meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm.
